(AGI) Rome - Speaking before the Senate today, ISVAP said that auto insurance had increased by 27% and 45% for motorcycles.
“These figures,” said Codacons president Carlo Rienzi, “show that Italy is well ahead of other countries in the cost of car insurance. In our country a car insurance policy costs five times the European average.” Rienzi continued, “To insure a car in Germany you spend on average 222 euro, in France 172 euro, Spain 229 euro. In Italia, on the other hand, average car insurance costs between 900 and 1,000 euro, with rates increasing by 195% from 1994 to today.” Complaints also came from the consumer’s organization, Federconsumatori. “Finally ISVAP has the same numbers ONF has and now, finally it is capable of noting the scandalous increases in car insurance rates, Increases that, we have been emphasizing for some time, are completely unjustified. It is enough to consider that from 2001 to now, the cost of insuring your car has increased by at least 98%, while accidents have dropped by 22%. . .
